Dear Grant School Students & Families,
It is with equal parts sadness and excitement that I share with you a change coming to Grant School and the Petaluma City School’s elementary admin team. I will be leaving our amazing community for a new adventure with Valley Vista Elementary School, another equally amazing community of learners in Petaluma. Their beloved principal, Emily Kleinholz, is leaving our district.
I consider the shift a professional growth opportunity. While leaving a school I love after close to eighteen years of work with our wonderful community, I believe that change is good. Change is beneficial to leaders, students, teachers and communities.
As I depart, Grant School will transition into the capable hands of Emily Dunnagan, current principal of Kenilworth Junior High. Ms. Dunnagan is a skilled, experienced, invested leader who is excited to move to elementary. And our admin team is ready for Emily’s energy and expertise.
As we say farewell to Ms. Kleinholz, our district is looking forward to these shifts in leadership. These changes will ensure continuity for our students and staffs as well as bring new energy and ideas to Grant School and Valley Vista as we move into the 2015-2016 school year and beyond.
Each teacher spoke with his/her class about these transitions. And this letter was sent home with students to continue that supportive conversation. For some students, change is hard. Rest assured, I’m 100% here through July. I love this school and will do everything possible to support this change. You are going to love Ms. Dunnagan!
Missing you all already and excited for what’s to come,
